Potty Train Your Puppy

Rubbing a puppy's nose in a mess is not the right way to house train!

1. Decide where you want your puppy to potty outdoors.

2. Guide your puppy to that spot

3. Give your puppy a command like "potty" each time so they will eventually do it on command.

4. Give lots of Praise to your puppy when he goes

5. After several times the odor should mark this place for your puppy and he will automatically go there.

6. A puppy 6-8 weeks old should go out about every 1 to 3 hours

7. Older puppies can go a little longer before being let out

8. They should be let/taken out after wakening in the morning, after naps, after meals, after playing, after being along and right before being put to bed.

9. A puppy cannot help nervous wetting (like when he greets you) and will eventually grow out of it so don't scold him.

10. A puppy cannot be left alone if he is untrained or has gone 4 weeks without pottying in the house. You can keep them in a crate while you are gone so they won't potty in doors.

11. Crate training is the best way to solve this problem. Make the puppy comfortable in the crate. You can flip a couple of treats in so the puppy will go in.
